A Family Affair
In January 1979, Jean Chatman opened the doors of Chatman’s Bakery. The 500 square foot building housed both production facilities and retail outlet. Her first marketing campaign consisted of loading up the family car with pies, handing the keys to her son and telling him not to come back until everything was sold. Well, not only did he sell those pies in record time, but he came back with orders for more!
We’ve grown a lot since then. Over the years the original building was enlarged. In 2005, we moved into our new home, a 7000 square foot, state-of-the-art facility. Jean handed the reins over to her daughters. Lorraine and Roxanne, who still retain the value and pride of their mother’s hard work and dedication.
